Creating a website with "Good Content" is hard. All the experts say that any good website must have "Good Content". Experts say that in order for your website to sell anything or promote an affiliate program, you must have "Good Content". Many of the experts make it look easy, but the fact that not many people do it well, or even want to try, is evidence that it is a difficult task. Why is it so difficult to write "Good Content"? One problem is that a lot of affiliates and web designers don't understand what "Good Content" really is. So let define it: · "Good Content" is valuable, appropriate, editorial information. · "Good Content" is information related to specific topic or theme. Often this can be broken down by web page with different sub topic on each page. · If you are an Affiliate then "Good Content" is information related to the affiliate program but not information found on the merchant site. For Example: If you have a website that discusses what to do on Valentines Day, you might have links to a Jewelry Affiliate program or Flowers Affiliate programs. · "Good Content" is not the same sales information listed on the merchant site. · "Good Content" is not a welcome paragraph and a list of links to other websites. So, if the experts make it look so easy, what is their secret? The first hurtle is simply to put forth an effort. Yes that means work at it. Most affiliates do nothing or put up a minimal effort. Some believe they don't know how to write. Some know what needs to be done and just don't make the time. Some spend lots of time spinning their wheels doing things that don't build content, and therefore fail. The second secret is writing about what you know. If you have experience or knowledge in a certain area, then that is what you should write about. If you want to create a website but don't know anything about the topic, learn first, then write. Some affiliate programs take advantage of this desire to make it easy and tell you that if you join their program you don't have to do anything and you will make money. Never happens. "Good Content" builds trust. It builds a relationship between you and the person visiting your website. It shows the visitor that you understand the topic and have knowledge that can be trusted. It shows that you have credibility. Flimsy content provides very little credibility and therefore very little trust. "Good Content" provides a reason to come back and visit the site a second and third time. The more often the content changes and is updated, the more often people are likely to return to see what as been added or changed. Repeat visitors provide more traffic and advertising by word of mouth concerning your website. A perfect example of "Good Content" can be found in the Wealth Connection Marketing Ezine. If it did not have "Good Content" then the readers would stop reading. The fact that you keep reading this ezine is a strong indicator that you believe it has "Good Content" Providing "Good Content" in your website or ezine is vital if you want to succeed as a website, ezine, or find success in any affiliate program you may be in. Right?? Wrong. I have many philosophies when dealing with customers, but I definitely do not believe that the customer is always right. However, when the customer is wrong, you must handle the situation delicately. There are many types of customers and each one needs to be treated with respect and consideration no matter how difficult they may be. I have found that most (not all) people can be soothed out of their "nastiness". I used to work at our local casino and I would get all kinds of customers to deal with. Most of them were very pleasant as in the IM business, but there were a few that were very difficult. There was this one night when I came in contact with this particularly difficult lady who, of course, was having bad luck. She was just a bit**in" and blaming the casino!! I calmly yet firmly talked to her in a reassuring and respectful manner each and every time I came around. I noticed that each time I did talk to her she became more and more relaxed and controlled. Until finally, later in the evening, I went into the Ladies Room and who should be there, but the difficult lady! Well, as I came in, she burst out, " There she is. There's that girl who was so nice to me all night long and made me feel so much better"! She could not have been more grateful. ;-) Now this will not happen everytime you run into a difficult customer, but it could happen often. Treat people with respect, kindness and consideration and more often then not, you will be able to calm down a dissatisfied, belligerent customer. Listen to the customer and let them know you will do everything possible to get the problem resolved. Show them that you care! You need to actually care about your customer and care about making sure they are satisfied with you and your service and/or product. Do not just think of the customer as another sale. If you get the eternally nasty customer who will not be consoled no matter what you do, do not lose control or sink to their level. Remain calm but firm. The customer is not always right no matter how much they think they are. Be courteous and polite. Since I have been online, I have only encountered about three customers of the eternally nasty type. ;-) I did my best, but to no avail. So I had no choice but to send them on their way. I stood up for myself and for MOE and did not insult them in any way. But as we know, there is just no pleasing some people. I would say that 99% of the people I have encountered online have been absolutely wonderful! They make it easy to treat them with respect and courtesy. I, who has been painfully shy most of my life, love working with people and enjoy interacting with them online and offline. I think all (well, almost all) people are good in one way or another and deserve to be treated as such. So, an Australian dentist wrote the following to let everyone know what an American is, so they would know when they found one. "An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian, or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani, or Afghan. An American may also be a Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans. An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America, they are free to worship as each of them chooses. An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that, he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God. An American is from the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God-given right of each man and woman to the pursuit of happiness. An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need. When Afghanistan was overrun by the Soviet army twenty years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country. As of the morning of September 11, 2001, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan. Americans welcome the best -- the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best athletes. But they also welcome the least. The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest-tossed. These, in fact, are the people who built America. Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, earning a better life for their families. I've been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least thirty other countries, cultures, and first languages -- including those that aided and abetted the terrorists. So, you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao, and every blood thirsty tyrant in the history of the world. But, in doing so, you would just be killing yourself, because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit and freedom.
